BSEFのDecaBDEと代替物質の関係についてのファクトシートに以下のようなデータが示されていた。レファレンスは引かれていない。

Estimates from the electronics industry place the costs of a Deca ban from approximately $1 million per company to approximately $25 million per company, depending on the time of implementation.

DecaBDEを禁止にすることにより，代替物質の探索，新規難燃剤の選択（多くの場合は樹脂の変更を強いられる），製品のデザイン（機械的性能が異なってくるため）や工作機器設備の変更（流動性もろもろの加工時の性質が異なるため）が伴う。それにより，１メーカーあたり100万ドルから2,500万ドルの代替費用がかかるという。これは原単位として目安に出来そう。
