• Based on the available data, melamine-treated foam is not expected to present a hazard to consumers.
• Inhalation studies are lacking for TDCP, TPP, PIP, and OTB. This is significantbecause inhalation appears to contribute the greatest portion of the total exposure.
• Empirical data on vapor phase emissions or indoor concentrations are needed toassess whether TDCP, TPP, PIP, or OTB may present a hazard to consumers.
• Chemical-specific migration and release data are needed to assess more accuratelywhether TPP and PIP may present a hazard to consumers.
• Additional toxicity data are needed to derive AD1 values for TPP and PIP.
• Basic toxicity and physico-chemical data for OTB are needed to derive an acceptable daily intake value and to estimate exposure.
